Death on the shores of the Allegheney River

Found a dead deer along the river by Millvale. It had been dead for a long time and only pieces of the skeleton was strewn around.

Breaking the tight controlled patterns of Rep Weave.

There is such enjoyment to see a weave take life in the loom. Even though you have planned the design and have an idea how it will look at the end.....It is not until you take it off the loom that you really see the final result. This piece is 24" x 57".

This woven piece (30" x 72") was recently accepted into the juried Westmoreland Art Nationals, which is part of the Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival.
I am exploring the woven surface...how to set the bound threads free from their confinement. A weave is so locked..controlling and unyielding..at least the techniques I use, which is the rep weave. As with myself...I am trying to let go of the control and create something beautiful and free..letting go of everything that is holding me back.

About Me

My photo
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States
I am a mother, weaver and artist. Yarn, beads, stones, nature and any other material that I find exciting is my media. My woven pieces reflect the place where I am at currently in my wondrous journey called life. Down to earth, laid back, yet able to fly high. Quiet at times but won't let anybody step over me. Respectful, strong, always trying to improve myself and challenge myself to overcome things that scare or intimidate me.
